Following the trench warfare of the first World War which took place in the poppy fields of Flanders, red poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime. The use of the poppy was inspired by the World War I poem "In Flanders field". Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to grow in the churned-up earth of soldiers' graves in Flanders. Red Poppies, or artificial ones, are worn on and around the 11th of November, Remembrance Day, to honour them.

Materials: The Red Poppy earrings are cast in bronze with red cast glass petals and accented with peacock freshwater pearls. The wires are 925 silver.
