Delft Floral Dish 5.5"

$ 60.00

Some people may refer to any blue and white ceramic item as "delftware," but true delftware is actually hand painted by skilled artists and glazed with tin over a process that has been perfected over centuries. These one-of-a-kind pieces are highly valued by knowledgeable collectors. The name "delftware" comes from the Dutch city of Delft, where the industry flourished after the closure of Dutch breweries in the late 16th century. The technique of tin-glazing originated in the East and spread to Italy before being perfected by Dutch craftsmen.

This dish is authentic hand painted delftware made by DeWit, a renowned Dutch company with a long tradition of excellence. Each DeWit product can be identified by a factory mark, item number, and artist's initials. To ensure authenticity, we also provide a "DeWit Certificate of Authenticity" with every purchase. Variations will occur.
