Master G.Z.: Madonna and Child Holiday Cards

This exquisite tempera and gold painting from was crafted circa 1420–30 by Master G.Z. (possibly Michele dai Carri) (Italian, active by 1405–1441). The sculptural quality of the figures and the Madonna's magnificent throne is owed to the artist's study of work by the sculptor Jacopo della Quercia (Jacopo di Pietro d'Angelo di Guarnieri) (Italian, 1374?–1438).
